3 - HISTORY AND NICE TO KNOW
The community of Brasc is a world of contrasts as seen more in this country of the seven valleys: plateaus and valleys, slopes and mountains; a great variety of wealth typical for this region.
On top of plateaus with an average height of 600 meters, you will have splendid observation posts over the entire south Aveyron, with in particular the  corners of the plains of Larzac in the east, the mountains of Lévézou in the north east, but also the mountains of Lacaune in the south and may be, at clear weather and early in the morning in the south west the mountain tops of the Pyrenees.
The green valley of the Tarn of which you will discover its charms by taking this foot path, was in early days the domain of  van orchards and vinyards. An impressiv amount of water is led along the border of the community of Brasc by the river Tarn and is led through the water dam of Lacroux.
The village of Brasc is an area with strong agricultural traditions.
These activities were important for a long time. The landscape that unfolds here, was formed during many years. The furtile soil was responsible for a prosperres potato cultivation. Currently cattle breeding and cultivation of crop for cattle fodder are dominating, with a strong specialisation of  sheep breeding for the production of sheep milk. Here we are of course in the area for the production of the king of all cheeses: the Roquefort.
A kilometer behind Brasc, direction Coupiac, you will discover a small lake in the middle of a beautiful small wood, a nice area for a pick-nick or catching trout (only on Sundays, end of April to end of August). This peaceful spot will enchant everyone who loves silence and peace. You also will find in these surroundings many crucifixes alongside trails and foot paths, whitnesses of a rich historical and religieus past.
