DESCRIPTION
- You start at la
salle des fêtes and turn right 100 meters the
community road direction castle. Take left the brick
paved road that ascends a bit and then descends to a
small road that you must cross. Pass a road going up.
Once you have crossed the brooklet, ignore to roads on
the right, but a slight slope brings you to the old
farm of Brugas. The society of Champs des Arts makes
available a shaded terrace during the season where you
can enjoy round games and have a drink. After pausing
follow the first road right behind the hamlet, that
will bring you a couple of meters lower to a road on
the left, parallel to the sand pit.
- Follow the path
leading back to the valley. Straight ahead all the
time ignoring several paths on both sides. Cross the
brooklet and make a short but steep climb leading to
the farm of la Castanjole. Then on top go left and
descend to the same brooklet. Cross it and go straight
ahead (do not take the road to the left). A long
shaded hill side of about a km leads you back to the
road of Gardette. Turn right when you arrive at the
asphalt road and to get on the RD90 after 700 meters.
Turn left direction St Juéry up to the soccer
field. Then 800 meters direction Cuns, Terme and
Joncas. At a cross-roads follow the signs Les
Blanquets. 200m further on follow a sandy path to the
left. Walking over the ridge this path leads through a
small wood going down to the valley of Gos (on the
left). Direction la Curvélarié you pass
a farm and follow the ascending road back to St
Juéry.

- 3 - HISTORY
AND NICE TO KNOW
- ST JUERY - FARRET
- ENNOUS ~ 3 villages rich of history and
traditions
- St Juéry
has the privilege in possessing 2 churches; the most
recent dates from the beginning of the 20th century
and the second that is older has a Roman style and is
currently being restored. Another privilege is that
the village possesses a castle from the XVIth century,
that today still is hebetated and therefore is closed
for the public. The church is vary appreciated because
of its beautiful Roman architecture rich of treasury
with memories of the past in this community. Part of
the church possibly dates from the XIIth or XIVth
century, but that only applies for the nave and the
bell tower. It is about 1726 that a vestry and 2
chapels were added. In the middle of the XIXth century
a spire was build, that was destroyed around 1930
returning the church to its original appearance. Since
the opening of the newly build church in 1925 the old
one is no longer used for divine services. It now
serves as parish hall for theatre, cinema and bingo
events. In 1970 the safety rules were enhanced and it
was closed for events. But history repeats itself and
in 1992 inhabitants came together and decided to save
this inheritance. It is opened to the public only for
exhibitions. At the entrance of the grave yard there
is a crucifix in renaissance style that symbolizes the
4 evangelists and the holy virgin Mary carrying
Christ.
- 2 other villages
also belong to the community of St Juéry, each
with its own typical character and traditions. The
village of Ennous that dominates over the valley of
Gos is a picturesque fortified little village
unveiling a couple of castle moats, protecting the
villagers against outside attacks. The village of
Farret, embedded in the valley of Constantinopel is
dominated by the church. You can discover it by taking
foot path number 5.
