- 2 - ROUTE
DESCRIPTION
- From the 250
meters high you arrive at St. Laurent at 570 meters,
this climb has the advantage of being in the shade
most part of the time. 200 m after departure the path
follows the road for 150 m, then turns right as a
sandy path direction Laborie.
- Behind this
village it will cross the road and lead to Lamayous.
Arriving above you can pause and take some air, then
you can start your 300 meters ascend to St. Laurent
over a hollow path. Pass the hamlet, do not continue
on the asphalt road, but take a path on the right side
leading down to Camboussières. Pass
Camboussières then Le Mazet. About 50 meters
behind Le Mazet do not miss the path on your right
side. This path leads through Pilande and then
descends all the time to Coupiac reaching the D33 at
the junction with the road leading to Solages. Take
the road direction Plaisance up to Mialet. Go left and
take the foot path of the Valley of the Rance to
return again in Plaisance.

- 3 - HISTORY
AND NICE TO KNOW
- While you follow
this trail you will pass a couple of representative
agricultures in the area of Lamayous, St Laurent ,
Camboussières and Le Mazet. They produce merely
sheep milk used for the production of the famous
Roquefort cheese. Since the sixties because of
mechanization the farmers left the steep hills of the
valleys and terraces in order to exploit the plateaus
by means of powerful tractors; taking advantage of the
bigger surfaces simplifying the work Gradually the
terraces on the hill sides were deserted, while the
parcels on the plateaus were extended. A situation
that seems to be stabilized now.
- At St Laurent you
can examine a crucifix from the 14th century with
inscriptions in the occitan language. It is the last
remainder of the Commanderie des Hospitaliers de St.
Jean de Jerusalem that was made here. You can also
admire the restored bell tower of the old church.
